Pretrial Services

Pretrial Services, with the Arizona Superior Court in Pima County, assists the Court by assessing the release eligibility and suitability of pretrial defendants. The Intake Unit, located at the Pima County Adult Detention Center, assesses individual cases by interviewing defendants, verifying information with references and completing criminal history background investigations. Following the initial assessment, the agency's Supervised Release team provides an alternative to detention by monitoring a defendant's performance through the pretrial period. This is accomplished through telephonic and face to face contact with the individual supervised. Also, case managers help monitor a defendant's adherence to court-ordered release conditions, which may include drug and alcohol testing, and refer individuals to outside agencies for any necessary counseling.
