The mission of the Pima County Drug Court is to provide effective drug treatment through a comprehensive therapeutic based program that will enhance community safety by reducing recidivism and enabling individuals to become fully functional members of the community.

Drug cases consume enormous criminal justice resources within the State of Arizona. 28% of cases filed in the Superior Court in Pima County in the last three years were felony drug offenses. Of the defendants incarcerated for drug crimes, statistics show that 46% return to prison within 4 years of their release.

The Superior Court in Pima County recognized the need to "break the cycle of drugs". As a result, the Pima County Drug Court was created.
