   Comm. Sharon Douglas originally from Cleveland, Ohio, has lived in Tucson since 1976. She obtained her BA in Literature from the University of Arizona in 1979 and graduated from the University of Arizona College of Law in 1982. After graduation Comm. Douglas pursued private practice focusing on family law matters until November 1994 when she was appointed to the bench as a court commissioner.

    Comm. Douglas has served on various local and statewide committees devoted to improving the practice and procedures in family law matters. She has been a member of the Executive Council of the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Arizona since 1993 and was Chair of the Section. She has also served as the President of the Arizona Chapter of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts. She is a member of the Arizona Women Lawyers Association, the Pima County Bar Association, and volunteers as a mentor to law students and as a judge for the high school mock trial competition.

    Currently Comm. Douglas is a member of the Community Relations Committee of the Superior Court and is committed to educating the public about the judicial system. She has volunteered with Big Brothers and Sisters and was a Big Sister for eight years, and then served on the Board of Directors.
