   David R. Ostapuk, born July 12, 1948 in Tucson, graduated from the University of Arizona College of Law in 1973.

    He worked in the Pima County Attorney's Office under Pima County Attorney Dennis Deconcini from 1973 to 1976. From 1976 until his appointment to the bench in 1994, he was in private practice in the law firm of Wolfe & Ostapuk in Tucson. His areas of practice included general civil litigation, including contract disputes, personal injury, business law, probate law, utilities litigation and with a particular emphasis on domestic relations litigation.

    David was a Certified Domestic Relations Specialist by the State Bar of Arizona and a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. He served on the Executive Council of the State Bar Family Law Section, has served as a member of the Arizona Legislature's Child Support Coordinating Council Subcommittee, and is a past chair of the Family Law Section of the Pima County Bar Association. He was chair of the committee to establish the Child Support Clearinghouse and on the committee that produced the "Model Parenting Time Plans for Parent/Child Access."

    David is a certified arbitrator by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. He was co-author of "The Attorney/Client Privilege for Corporate Counsel," printed in the Arizona Bar Journal, Volume 11, No. 4 1976, reprint permission granted to the Virginia Law Review and to the American Bar Association. He has been a frequent author and lecturer for the State Bar and Pima County Bar at Continuing Legal Education seminars and bar conventions. He is a former member of the American Judicature Society, Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, and former treasurer of the Arizona Bar Association Family Law Committee. He has served in the past as president-elect of the Arizona Chapter of the American Matrimonial Lawyers and a member of the Arbitration Committee of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. He is a member of the Arizona Judges Association. He is a former member of the Board of Directors of Southern Arizona Legal Aid Society, and has served as a volunteer judge for the Pima County Teen Court Program.

    He has served on both the Family Law Bench and the Probate Bench. Presently, he is assigned to the Family Law Bench.
