Public Comment Sought on Candidates for Superior Court Commissioner Vacancies

The public is being asked for comments on applicants for two Commissioner vacancies on the Pima County Superior Court Bench. The positions became available upon the appointment of Hon. Laurie San Angelo to Superior Court Judge by Governor Doug Ducey, and the retirement of Hon. Susan Kettlewell.

The Nominating Committee reviewed 18 applications for the commissioner positions and selected the following eight individuals to interview:

  • Burnett, Randi, Esq.
  • Curtiss, Rebecca S., Esq.
  • Espino, Jennifer L., Esq.
  • Jordan (St. Clair), Karen L., Esq.
  • Koltunovich, Derek, Esq.
  • Kulseth, Reagen A., Esq.
  • Schriner Lewis, Lisa, Esq.

The public is invited to comment regarding the applicants listed. Comments shall be in writing to the committee or verbally to a committee member. Anonymous comments will not be considered. Comments shall be offered no later than February 2, 2021, by 4:00 p.m.

Verbal comments may be directed to committee members as follows: Hon. Jeffrey T. Bergin, Co-Chair; Hon. Kathleen Quigley, Co-Chair; Hon. D. Douglas Metcalf; Hon. Lisa Bibbens; Alison Crane, Esq.; Nicci Hinderaker, Esq.; Thabet Khalidi, Esq.; Rev. Debra Asis; Lance Meeks, Metro/REC Senior Program Manager, Goodwill of Tucson; and Patty Dean, Public Member.

Following the interviews, the committee will recommend the finalists to Superior Court Presiding Judge, Kyle A. Bryson and Juvenile Court Presiding Judge, Peter Hochuli, who will make the appointments.
