Public Comments Invited on Candidates for Superior Court Judge Pro Tempore Vacancy by March 18, 2024

The Superior Court in Pima County is requesting comments on applicants for Judge Pro Tempore on its bench. The position will become open upon retirement of the Hon. Teresa Godoy.

The duties of this position include presiding over all phases of a broad range of criminal cases as well as specialty criminal courts, such as, Drug Court, Substance Use, Mental Health Response Team (SMRT) and Supportive Treatment and Engagement Programs (STEPs). Additional duties may include felony trials, changes of plea, motions to modify release conditions, sentencings, petitions to revoke, evidentiary hearings and other criminal matters as needed by the Court.

Twelve applications were reviewed by the court’s Judge Pro Tempore Selection Committee, and the following six candidates will be interviewed on March 21, 2024, at the Pima County Superior Court, 110 W. Congress, 9th floor.

The court invites your feedback in writing or orally to a committee member. Anonymous comments will not be considered. Comments must be received no later than noon on March 18, 2024.

Superior Court Presiding Judge Jeffrey T. Bergin will make the appointments following interviews of the selected finalists.
