DETENTION CENTER GOALS
JUSTICE, HEALING AND HEALTH
The primary goal of our Detention Center is the safe, temporary custody of persons under the age of 18 accused of conduct subject to the jurisdiction of the Court.
Our principle-guided services provide restorative justice, healing and health in a safe and secure learning environment.Utilizing a change-based delivery system called the Step Up to Juvenile Justice, we seek to stabilize the youths' harmful or out-of-control behavior, assist their recognition of the need to change, and teach appropriate accountability. We help prepare our youths for successful transition to the community. In addition, we facilitate public safety by developing the youths' law-abiding behaviors and successful living skills.
SAFE ENVIRONMENT
Our services are anchored in the five environmental essentials of the structured, safe, caring, healthy, and educational environment in our secure living units.
These services are outcome focused in activities and programs designed to develop youths' skills in the following areas:
Orderly and law abiding structured living units
Accountability and responsibility
Ability to avoid trouble or relapse
Self sufficiency and competency
Positive support system building
CLIENT-CENTERED APPROACH
We utilize a client-centered approach and positively engage our youths, while building working alliance through therapeutic rapport that motivate their desire to change.
Our services are guided by "Therapeutic Jurisprudence" principles to create Healing Justice for victims, offenders, and the community. The Detention Center works actively with the community, public agencies, and private entities to provide a wide range of helpful services, which support the juveniles' physical, emotional, and social development and promote justice, education, and the prevention of delinquency and abuse.
