The focus of activity for Pretrial Services assessment staff members is to develop information for Initial Appearance Hearings. Twice-daily initial appearance hearings are held to set conditions of release for all newly arrested defendants. Pretrial Services will submit a comprehensive report on each individual charged with either a felony offense or misdemeanor case. The Assessment Office is staffed continuously to satisfy the logistics of completing background investigations for the early morning and late evening court deadlines, and to insure victims and defendants’ families can provide input to the Court a all times.
